The AUG A3-CQC is an Assault Rifle in Tom Clancy's The Division 2.

The AUG A3-CQC and the Named variant Invisible Hand can be obtained from enemies, vendors, weapon chests, Sealed Caches, and any area/mission with Assault Rifles as targeted loot.

The Exotic variant The Bighorn can only be extracted from Dark Zones or obtained from Named bosses in Strongholds or The Summit on Legendary difficulty.

History[]

Ostensibly a close-combat variant of the AUG A3, the AUG A3-CQC is actually based on an unproduced prototype designed by Steyr Mannlicher AG in 2006. It differs from the A3 by having a detachable railed handguard attached ahead of the receiver and a shortened barrel. Due to concerns about extra cost and weight, as well potential issues with reliability and consistency of the detachable handguard, the prototype received little interest and was last promoted by Steyr in 2008.

The game's Exotic variant, The Bighorn, is modeled after the older AUG A1 from 1978, with a full-length barrel and lacking modern attachment rails.

Usage[]

The AUG A3-CQC is fairly middling in terms of performance - powerful, but not particularly accurate and with a bizarre recoil pattern that changes from pulling diagonally to vertically after the first ten rounds, forcing users to either fire in bursts or adjust their compensation mid-magazine.

What sets the gun apart is its 42-round ammunition capacity, the highest among Assault Rifles. While plenty of automatic weapons can hit harder than the AUG, its ability to sustain fire and the remit to chase down a wounded foe instead of hanging back to reload can be a deciding factor in many firefights, especially against archetypes like Medics or Snipers who prioritize evasion over direct confrontations. As its name suggests, it excels in close quarters, where it is more difficult for enemies to escape by simple rolling or ducking into cover.
