Story[]

Broad Spectrum Anti-Virals (acronym: B.S.A.V.) are a pharmaceutical prototype that aims to, according to Bardon Schaeffer's boss and Alani Kelso, cure viral illnesses just as an antibiotic can cure bacterial illnesses.

First samples of the B.S.A.V. were produced in New York City during the initial outbreak, somewhere after the events of General Assembly, with the help of Jessica Kandel. Said antivirals were then sent off mainly to an auxiliary installation, presumably Ann Arbor as well as The Pentagon in order to try to get the antivirals into mass production as soon as it was technologically feasible, leading to the Pentagon starting to develop a Bio-reactor that would be capable of streamlining the mass production of the B.S.A.V.

Somewhere after the end of the normal campaign and the events of Falcon Lost and Clear Sky in Tom Clancy's The Division however, a blizzard strikes New York City and various B.S.A.V. samples mysteriously end within the Dark Zone, which leads to the events that players play through in Survival.

During the 6-month time skip between Tom Clancy's The Division and Tom Clancy's The Division 2, the constantly decaying situation, as well as the death of President Waller, would force the evacuation of all critical government personnel to bunkers at undisclosed locations, such as Raven Rock, leading to all Pentagon personnel being abandoned after finishing the development of the Bio-Reactor.

As well, during this time period, the Black Tusk are able to secure several B.S.A.V. samples, some of which are obtained from the Ann Arbor facilities, but still need to secure the samples that were sent to Washington, D.C., leading to Bardon Schaeffer being hired to subsequently commence the Black Tusk operations in the city and the surrounding areas, leading to them raiding civilian settlements and slowly eliminating Division agents stationed in them, as well as directly causing the assassination of President Mendez in order to later on gain access to the Presidential laboratory, where B.S.A.V. samples were stored, from President Ellis

However, after the events in Tidal Basin, the Black Tusk lost the B.S.A.V. samples that Wyvern has retrieved after the attack led by Division agents, leading them to then attempt to extract the Bio-Reactor from The Pentagon. After conducting a raid, the Black Tusk, led by Petrus Brenner, get through the Pentagon's defense systems and are able to secure several SHD prototypes, as well as the Bio-Reactor itself, but are successfully stopped after a Division attack on the building, which allows the JTF to secure the Bio-Reactor.

Trivia[]

  • After completing Tidal Basin after the first time, therefore finishing the Washington, D.C. campaign, the player receives a B.S.A.V. sample. Players can keep this sample or give it to a civilian NPC that spawn within East Mall Contaminated Zone. Said NPC later on respawns at the Theater Settlement, where players can give her a second B.S.A.V. sample.
