The Damascus is an Exotic sidearm that is in Tom Clancy's The Division.

It can be crafted from a blueprint which is awarded for completing the General Assembly mission. While seemingly unimpressive as an Exotic weapon, among pistols it is excellent. The combination of great natural stability (low recoil) with a good sized magazine and the ability to fire as fast as you can click, make it an extremely effective sidearm and worth crafting as soon as you receive the blueprint.

Higher-Gear Score Damascus Pistols can drop normally through gameplay as well, instead of having to use the lower-end variant from crafting.

Real Life Version

The Beretta M9 is the military variant of the Beretta 92 . It is the primary sidearm of the U.S. military, having replaced the M1911 sidearm in 1986, and was put into service in 1990. Some other models have been adopted to a lesser extent, namely the M11 pistol, and other models remain in use in certain niches.

The M9 is a short recoil, semi-automatic, single-action / double-action pistol which uses a 15-round staggered box magazine with a reversible magazine release button that can be positioned for either right- or left-handed shooters.

The Damascus appears to be crafted from Damascus steel, which is not necessarily a good material to be used for weapons. However, Damascus steel lookalikes are made from powdered Swedish steel, which give the classic Damascus swirling two-tone look.
