“ Lieutenant Bantam, he used to be a drone operator for the army. He believes he isn't responsible for someone's death unless he gets their blood on him. Bantam will tell you he's never killed anyone, because he's never had blood on his hands, but he's murdered thousands. ”
Lieutenant Martin Bantam is a True Sons Officer and one of Stovepipe's four lieutenants in the Reign of Fire season. Bantam is an ex-U.S. Army Drone Operator-turned-True Son who claims he's not responsible for people's deaths if he has never had blood directly on his hands.
History[]
Lieutenant Martin Bantam always had a little trouble separating fantasy from reality. He truly believed that unless he personally engaged with the enemy, he was not responsible for the havoc and pain he reeked. Hiding behind a screen, he was able to justify unspeakable horrors, sleep soundly, and call himself a hero.
After the events at the Pentco Fairview Power Plant and the newly restored alliance between General Anderson of the True Sons and Natalya Sokolova of the Black Tusk, Bantam saw himself being forced to work with allies he didn't fully trust. As he was set up on the Potomac Event Center with troops from both factions, Bantam questioned Anderson if it was truly necessary to ally themselves with the Black Tusk again, to which Anderson replied by telling him that, without this alliance, the True Sons would not have enough infrastructure and resources to maintain a war against the Division.
The Lieutenant would then use his drones to gather intel on the White House to try and find out what was Bardon Schaeffer's status after Coney Island. He would send his reports to the General, who tells him Sokolova wants to hear the news from Bantam himself. Bantam, although completely afraid of the Black Tusk CEO, reports to her that Schaeffer hadn't been seen in a while, and that he was briefly seen badly injured shorty after the Coney Island incident.
At some point, Bantam asked for a supply request of DC-62 for the mortars. General Anderson declined as he believed contamination threats is not in their best interest. The conversation changed when the Lieutenant asked General Anderson about the rumors in Saint Louis. Anderson dismissed them, which made the Lieutenant confrontational towards his superior given his worry about radiation poisoning. He later talked with Cursed about the rumors, and Cursed told him that he believes the rumors are true. This made Bantam concerned, though Cursed assured him to be more worried about Fairview than Saint Louis.
Bantam would eventually be hunted down, engaged and killed by Division agents at the Potomac Event Center.
