“ Integrally suppressed 9mm pistol for when you don't want to compromise between performance and suppression. A large magazine and added barrel weight from the suppressor minimizes recoil for a very precise weapon. ”
The Maxim 9 is a High-End Named Pistol in Tom Clancy's The Division 2.
This weapon features the Talent Perfect Spike. It was added to the game in Title Update 6.
This weapon can only be obtained through the Technician Specialization tree. In total, an investment of 10 Specialization Points is required to raise the weapon to Level 40.
The Technician Specialization must be active to equip this weapon. If it is ever sold or dismantled, another duplicate will appear in the inventory the next time the Technician Specialization is activated.
History[]
The Maxim 9 is described by its manufacturer, SilencerCo, as "the world's first integrally-suppressed 9mm handgun" able to be holstered and fired without hearing protection. It length is shorter than a conventional handgun with suppressor attached, and can be shortened further for ease of concealment.
The gun's fixed barrel and a patented delayed blowback system minimize felt recoil, allowing for quiet and accurate follow-up shots. Due to its unique construction, however, it cannot accept conventional accessories like flashlights or optics, which is reflected in-game.
Usage[]
The Maxim 9 offers good all-around performance as a Specialization sidearm: fast fire rate, large magazine, and mild, controllable recoil. Its biggest downside is a lack of attachment slots, which would help in landing the headshots needed to trigger its Talent, Perfect Spike.
Its +25% Skill Damage pairs well with fire-and-forget Skills like the Seeker Mine or Sticky Bomb. When using deployable tech like the Turret or Drone, however, the Maxim 9 is outshined by the TDI "Kard" Custom, which not only provides a free Skill Tier while drawn, but can use the In-Sync Talent, providing a potential +30% Skill Damage boost when both the pistol and Skill deal damage. Of course, its effect is shorter than Perfect Spike's, but refreshes from any hits - not just headshots. Still, for its universal availability the Maxim 9 is a superb aid for beginner Skill builds and Damage- or Armor-focused builds that make periodic use of offensive Skills.
