The Midtown East is a hauntingly desolate district in post-apocalyptic Manhattan, ravaged by the Green Poison pandemic. Once a bustling hub of commerce, culture, and urban life, it now stands as a battleground where factions vie for control amidst crumbling skyscrapers and abandoned streets.

Pre-Pandemic[]

Before the viral catastrophe, Midtown East was the pulsing heart of Manhattan's commercial and diplomatic life. Home to iconic landmarks like Grand Central Terminal, the United Nations Headquarters, and the Chrysler Building, it was a place where global power brokers, corporate titans, and everyday New Yorkers converged. The district buzzed with activity: tourists marveled at architectural marvels, diplomats negotiated in secure chambers, and workers filled the glass-and-steel offices that defined the skyline. Neighborhoods like Turtle Bay and Murray Hill offered a mix of upscale residences, trendy bars, and historic brownstones, creating a vibrant urban tapestry.

The Green Poison Outbreak[]

When the Green Poison swept through New York City during the Black Friday chaos, Midtown East was hit hard. The virus, spread via contaminated currency, turned crowded shopping districts and transit hubs into epicenters of infection. Grand Central Terminal, a nexus for millions of commuters, became a charnel house as panicked crowds succumbed to the disease or fled, leaving behind a trail of bodies and abandoned belongings.

The federal government's response was swift but insufficient. Quarantine zones were established, with Midtown East designated as a critical containment area due to its density and strategic importance. The Joint Task Force (JTF), a coalition of first responders and National Guard, set up checkpoints and medical tents, but the virus outpaced their efforts. Hospitals like NYU Langone overflowed, and makeshift morgues appeared in parking lots. As the death toll soared, public order disintegrated. Looting, riots, and desperation took hold, transforming Midtown East into a warzone.
