Mike was a resident of the Theater Settlement. He is a protagonist in Tom Clancy's The Division: Remission.

Biography[]

Mike grew up in Yorktown, Virginia, and became childhood friends with his classmates Bruce and John at twelve years old. The three boys often spent time at Potomac Park, where they decided to build a treehouse together; however, their progress was slow until they met Janis McGee, who helped them steal tools and supplies. She later introduced them to her younger brother, David. Together, they helped Janis protect David from their abusive father, Dick.

Unbeknownst to Bruce and John, Mike and Janis began a romantic relationship in their teenage years. One night, the two overheard David screaming for help; inside the house, they discovered that Dick had beaten David to death. Mike killed Dick with Janis's knife, but fatally stabbed Janis by accident when she tried to intervene. He stole Dick's car to drive to Potomac Park, buried Janis's body beneath their treehouse, then sank the car into the Potomac River.

Using Janis's beeper, he impersonated her and sent a cryptic farewell message to Bruce and John, promising to contact them soon. When the television news reported Janis's disappearance, Mike feigned ignorance and theorized that Janis had killed her father as revenge for murdering David. He secretly kept Janis's beeper and butterfly knife in his backpack, even into adulthood.

As years passed, the three friends drifted apart, although they always met once a year to fix the treehouse and commemorate Janis. Mike went on to study computer science at several prestigious universities, and started a successful IT company that built smartphone apps. He would later marry his wife, Evangeline, and have a daughter, Linda.

After the Green Poison struck Washington, D.C., Bruce revealed to Mike that he had joined the Strategic Homeland Division, which Mike promised to keep a secret.

Tom Clancy's The Division: Remission[]

When the Hyenas attacked Mike's neighborhood in Mount Vernon Square, he hid Evangeline and Linda inside a panic room in his house before being captured. He and many of his neighbors were then taken to the Lincoln Memorial for a public execution. En route, he used a beeper to message Bruce and John for help.

Bruce and his team arrived in time to rescue Mike and the other hostages, while John watched from afar. As the agents escorted them to the Theater Settlement, Mike contacted John, asking him to rescue his family from the panic room. John succeeded, but inadvertently discovered Janis's belongings inside Mike's backpack, arousing his suspicions. John then contacted Mike via beeper, using his family's safety as leverage to obtain information about the Theater's security and guard rotations.

A week later, the Hyenas attacked the Theater Settlement during a change of the guard. A wounded Division agent, Katy, witnessed Mike talking to John after the attack, who took Mike back to the Hyenas' stronghold. Bruce left the Theater to track down the pair, all the while fruitlessly attempting to contact Mike.

At an abandoned clinic, John interrogated Mike about finding Janis's belongings in his backpack, and he confessed to killing her. Upon hearing explosions outside, Mike begged to be killed rather than face Bruce, and John stabbed him to death. Bruce discovered John standing over Mike's body, and shot him.

Afterwards, Bruce buried Mike beside John and Janis under the treehouse and erected crosses on their graves, hanging their childhood beepers on each one.
