History[]

The Model 686 is a double-action revolver first produced by Smith & Wesson in 1981, in an attempt to design a sturdier, more robust handgun that retained the smaller grip and size of its ubiquitous Model 10 revolver. It is a stainless-steel version of the previous Model 586, which is also included in-game, and both fire the same .357 Magnum cartridge.

The gun itself is highly adaptable, featuring adjustable sights, a six- or seven-round cylinder, and barrel lengths ranging from two to eight inches. It has seen use in various branches of the U.S. military and law enforcement, most notably with the U.S. Navy Seals.
