“ The Flamethrower Warhound will revolutionize forest maintenance. Rather than sending people to do controlled burns, we can deploy a warhound equipped with a flamethrower to do the controlled burn and if something goes wrong, there is no damage to the operator.
The operator can be safely on the other side of the world while the unit is deployed to even the most remote of areas.”
Sparkle is the codename of a prototype Black Tusk Warhound armed with a flamethrower that was deployed to Coney Island as part of an ambush to kill the Division agents by Natalya Sokolova during the Manhunt for Zachary "Stovepipe" Beattie.
History[]
After eliminating Charles "Chunks" Crawford, Lieutenant Martin Bantam, Mort "Cursed" Kellogg, and Beatrice "Auntie" Kaplan, the Division would discover Stovepipe's location on Coney Island, as well as Sokolova's plan to use dirty bombs to carpet bomb Lower Manhattan. After hearing a decrypted conversation between "Stovepipe" and Sokolova herself over her secrecy and how he began to become disillusioned with the Black Tusk, agents were sent to Coney Island Ballpark to find him and try to recruit "Stovepipe" to help them defeat the Tusk.
Upon arrival, agents made their way to Stovepipe's location near the mortar launchers left behind from the last Black Tusk mission on Coney Island, they soon discovered that Sokolova had killed "Stovepipe" for his disloyalty well before they arrived, and were ambushed by a plethora of Black Tusk UAVs, Minitanks, Warhounds, and even 2 XB-31 "Marauder" Quadcopters. As the agents fought their way through the machines to the extraction point, they were met with a final challenge: Sparkle, a prototype Flamethrower Warhound.
The agents fought against Sparkle, who despite having support from other lesser Warhounds and UAVs, was destroyed. As agents signaled Torres to extract them, "Wally", who had been acting as mission control, revealed that "Stovepipe" and the ambush was a diversion: Sokolova sent the Black Tusk to breach the White House and eliminate a comatose Bardon Schaeffer.
Abilities[]
Owing to Sparkle's unique Warhound model, it is armed with a powerful flamethrower and firebombs used by Elite level Grenade Warhounds and Minitanks.
Strategic Data
- The Black Tusk Flamethrower Warhound archetype is a heavily armored quadruped that utilizes a powerful flamethrower.
- The Flamethrower Warhound will become enraged and will shoot faster if the fuel canister on top of the flamethrower is damages.
- Destroying the Flamethrower Warhound trigger a self destruct sequence which sets off an explosion.
Trivia[]
- Similar to the Pentco Fairview Power Plant: General Anderson mission, the Ballpark Manhunt: Stovepipe mission log shows Zachary "Stovepipe" Beattie as its only boss fight. Despite this, Stovepipe himself is found dead by Sokolova's hands before the agents arrive, with Sparkle serving as the boss fight instead.
- Sparkle is the third instance of a final boss in a seasonal manhunt mission that isn't the Prime Target themselves. The Warhound shares this instance with Jack Bonney in the manhunt for Captain Lewis and Hank "Bough" Bibichev in the manhunt for General Anderson.
- Sparkle is the first and only Flamethrower Warhound encountered so far.
- Judging by the quote in the killscreen, Sparkle's model was originally designed to be used for forest maintenance, making it the only Warhound not designed for military purposes.
- Sparkle has a unique bronze paintjob to it's armor, compared to the usual black and red design sported by other warhounds.
