The Bridge is a civilian settlement, appearing in Battle for Brooklyn. It is built underneath the devastated Brooklyn Bridge, and is a Base of Operations for Aaron Keener and his Rogues. With the Division's D.C contingent allied with the Rogues, it is also their base of operations.

History[]

The foundations of The Bridge settlement began when Aaron Keener decided to build a suitable settlement, not just to safeguard civilians who were trying to escape the chaos engulfing Lower Manhattan, but to set up defenses and train people against Black Tusk and the Hunters. However, Agent Melanie Hoskins, suggested him a good way to rally people to his cause is to make a good and positive reputation.

As such, prior to WONY, Keener and his team rescued people in Lower Manhattan and smuggled them safely to Brooklyn. These civilians included Sarah Moretti and her family, Rodney Bishop, and Maral McCarthy, where they'd go help Keener and Parnell in building the settlement.

Rodney would be selected to handle the supplies as the Supplies Director. Maral was selected as Social Director under Theo's request, to keep her safe. And Sarah was selected by Theo to help him build the power for the settlement and rebuilding the power grid for Brooklyn as well.

Uneasy Truce[]

The civilians weren't the only ones who were smuggled to Brooklyn, however. A sizeable number of Rikers managed to cross the Hudson River and reached the borough. While they offered the chance to start fresh, a lot of the Rikers decided to stick together, establishing territory in Brooklyn Heights.

The Rikers and The Bridge settlement made a truce, with the understanding that no one cause problems to each other. In fact, some Rikers also helped in building the settlement, which Auto was a part of.

However, this truce was an uneasy one. At one point, a high-ranking Riker member held two skater kids as hostage, all because they lost direction and accidentally trespassed on Riker territory. Additionally, the convicts decided to raid the One Police Plaza's armory as a response to the continuing expansion and strength of the Bridge settlement.

Growth and Tragedy[]

Over the months, the Bridge grew more prosperous, as they made use of the CERA Clinic in DUMBO area for critical injuries and pregnancy care. And they've managed to grow enough supplies and logistics that can last up until May of the next year (Presumably May 2022)

However, the settlement would suffer a tragic loss. Sarah Moretti's family, her husband Mark, and her daughter Grace were killed by one of the Rikers. Wanting to take revenge, some members tried to help process her grief in non-violent means

However, that wasn't enough for Sarah and she took revenge on the Riker who killed her family, took leadership of the faction, and established a partnership with Black Tusk officer, Richard Danvers, to take revenge on the Bridge.

At some point, the settlement learned that Sarah committed suicide by drowning herself in the Hudson River. Agent Hoskins and Theo Parnell mourned for her death, especially Theo, as Sarah was a close friend of his. Unbeknownst to them, however, Sarah faked her death with help from Danvers and SFX artist, Matthew Grant, and using a voice modulator to hide her true identity, as she became known as the Rat Queen.

The Battle for Brooklyn[]

The struggles that the Bridge was going through were just getting started. As Jessica Kandel and her security detail were ambushed by the Cleaners around One Police Plaza during a supply run, Agent Hoskins sent a distress call to the Division in D.C, requesting assistance. The D.C agents answered the call, and fought their way across the Cleaners, managing to rescue Kandel and escorted her back to the Bridge.

Just then, a distress call was made from CERA Clinic, as it was being attacked by Cleaners. The agents were sent there to secure the area and rescue any survivors. Unfortunately, all the staff and security there were killed, though the agents avenged them by killing every Cleaner in the clinic, including one of their commanders. The Bridge's members took whatever supplies and equipment was available to upgrade their medical care and buried the dead where they could.

When the D.C agents were busy dismantling the Cleaners' operation in the H5 refinery and trying to prevent the facility's self-destruct, the Bridge got attacked by the Rikers and their automated defenses got disabled, forcing Hoskins and the settlement's combatants on the defense. Averting the self-destruct on the facility was in vain, so the agents returned to Brooklyn, where they stopped the Rikers in their tracks and forced them to retreat, with the Bridge only suffered minimal casualties. Around the time of the attack, Theo Parnell returned to the Bridge to help the settlement and the agents in their campaign.

But the danger was not yet over for the settlement. As the Division assaulted the Army Terminal stronghold that held a Black Tusk site from within, they encountered a Zeppelin that lifted off to make an attack on the Bridge with its onboard weapons, with Richard Danvers onboard the airship as well.

With help from ANNA, the agents hacked the SAM launchers and took them over, despite Black Tusk's reinforcements trying to stop them. With the missiles greatly damaging the Zeppelin, it lost altitude and crashed into the sea, killing Danvers, saving the Bridge from certain destruction.

However, the D.C agents then learn from an intel they recovered nearby revealed that Danvers and his Black Tusk contingent were after Amherst's Printer, the same printer that he used to create the Green Poison. And the same printer that Keener took to create the Eclipse Virus. This didn't set well with Hoskins, seeing the Printer putting a huge target on their back. Theo Parnell, however

Nonetheless, the Bridge is safe for the time being, and made use of the supplies and equipment from the hostile AO's that Division agents secured to upgrade the settlement. Which included upgrades for the Clinic, the Terrace, the Lounge, Aid Distribution, and a Playground for the kids.

Trivia[]

  • The Bridge was first teased in the comms of Y6S1: First Rogue, as Aaron Keener and Melanie Hoskins worked together to build a settlement in Brooklyn as a Base of Operations to train and prepare people against Black Tusk and the Hunters.
    • Additionally, a majority of Descent comms that were added in Y6S2: Shades of Red, involved Keener discussing with Bridgette Douglas about people who could be recruited for the Bridge. That fell through, as the people they wanted to recruit were members of the Castle settlement, with Douglas seeing a lot of them having a lot of baggage and not fit for Keener's war against Black Tusk and the Hunters
  • Similarly to the Castle settlement, the Bridge is at the maximum of Level 2; Severe Threat Alert.
  • A number of NPCs seen in The Bridge are former members of hostile factions like Black Tusk and its White Tusk branch, Rikers, True Sons, Hyenas, Outcasts, and Cleaners. This makes sense, as one of the settlement's goals is so people can shed their past and make a fresh start.
