Vikram Malik was the former CTO of ODEA Electronics before the Green Poison outbreak, having been fired from the company just days before the virus was unleashed.
Initially forced to work for the Hyenas (according to Vikram himself), he eventually exploits the Agent's selflessness (and The Division by extension) to gain access to ODEA's servers, wiping out vital server data of battery technology that would have proven vital for the Theater Settlement, then proceeding to betray the agent to the Hyenas. After that, he disappears from The Division's radar.
By Year 5 Season 2: Puppeteers, Vikram Malik re-emerges, having been kidnapped by The Recruiter due to Vikram's previously unknown connections to Black Tusk. Apparently, Vikram's earlier betrayal against The Division was arranged with the Hyenas at the request of Natalya Alexeyevna Sokolova, the CEO of Black Tusk. He is later recovered by The Division and sent to work at rebuilding the Castle Settlement.
Profile[]
Vikram Malik is an Indian American. After graduating from college, he worked for a range of Silicon Valley start-ups and built up a good reputation within the tech sector. He was involved in the Odea technology company and was instrumental in making it the global force it is today. Malik is highly opinionated, entitled and mercurial. He can be argumentative and manipulative when things don't go his way.
Vikram Malik is one of the Castle's most vocal and unlikely residents. The CEO of ODEA Tech, a former ally turned Black Tusk puppet, turned ally, is better known as Vik or "Vik the Dick". Malik is a controversial addition to the community. But like all the other members, he brings expertise and value that elevates the people around him.
Vik always thinks he's the smartest person in the room, which is rarely true. He is very well-connected to other players in the Military Industrial Complex and has a long history with Ortiz Robotics, Calvin McManus and Natalya Sokolova.
Biography[]
After graduating from college, Vikram spent years building his reputation in the tech sector, then got involved in the ODEA Technology company, doing his part in making it a global force. At one point, he got to work with Ortiz Robotics to help build a proper power solution for the holograms in the underground Descent facility, although Claire Ortiz preferred to work with his sister, Birdie. Additionally, he made connections with Calvin McManus and Natalya Sokolova
For reasons unknown, Malik got fired a few days from ODEA Tech before the Green Poison outbreak. Months later, he'd be under custody of the Hyenas, being held at an ODEA Tech office. When Division agents went there in hopes to find battery packs for the Theater settlement, they eliminated Hyenas in the area and rescuing Malik. Unfortunately, it would turn out the office are out of battery packs.
Later on, Malik would request Division agents to go to the ODEA Retail store. Secretly, he was under forced arrangement from Natalya Sokolova to wipe server data that'd implicate her involvement with ODEA Tech and betray the Division by alerting Hyenas nearby. After that, he'd disappear from the Division's radar, though in reality he'd be forced to work for the Black Tusk and making power solutions for their tech and strongholds.
A few months later, when Shawn "Micro" Clarke spoke candidly to Sokolova about Vikram's attitude, she let Micro decide his fate as his Vikram's "employment" was short-term. While Micro was tempted to kill Vikram, he let him go, hoping that stray bandits, starvation, or the wilds would kill him.
Nevertheless, Vikram managed to survive and sought refuge to the Castle Settlement. While Manny was not pleased with his betrayal, he let him stay and help rebuild the Castle under the condition he'd share any viable intel on Sokolova and McManus. He'd fulfill his end of the bargain by sharing audio transmissions involving his work with McManus and Sokolova. When Black Tusk attacked the White House, they also kidnapped Vikram Malik alongside other key civilians, forcing him to be their pawn once again.
“ Whoo! Glad you didn't shoot me. Hope there are no hard feelings about that Hyena ambush. You know that was Nat's idea, right? Ah, it doesn't really matter, the past is the past. Besides, I could tell they were no match for you, and I was right. They're all dead and you're still kicking. If you need anything, your best friend Vik is here to fufill all your basic power needs. - Vikram to the Agents”
Eventually, Division agents managed to find Vik in Bank Headquarters after sweeping through the West End area. After his rescue, he requested the Division to go to Camp White Oak and rescue his sister, Birdie.
After the Recruiter was defeated and the shocking revelation about his identity, he tried to talk to Manny about whether Kelso could be trusted, mentioning her CIA background, though Manny wouldn't hear of it.
In any case, he and Birdie have settled in well in the Castle, helping in making the power grid stable for the settlement.
